Gilt-bronze Tripod Censer and Cover, China, late Qing dynasty, compressed globular form with beast masks with rings (now missing) alternating with two bird-and-flower designs in relief, all in four lobed lozenge-shape panels against a chased gilt ground with floral and foliate scrolls, the cover reticulated with peony design, surmounted with shishi knob, ht. 5 1/4 in.
Provenance: Purchased in China in the 1930s, then by descent to the present owner.
