The First Prohibition, from The Story of Adam and Eve, 1529 (Hollstein, 2Ic/III). Monogrammed and dated in the plate. Engraving on laid paper, sheet size 6 1/2 x 4 9/16 in. (16.4 x 11.5 cm),unmatted, unframed.
Condition: Trimmed to or just within the plate mark, even toning, gentle staining (more prominent to verso),pencil annotations to verso.
Estimate $300-500
The most visible staining to recto is above the head of God. The toning is even and ther is additional small staining and foxing. It is hinged with Japan or similar hinges at the upper corners verso.
