Oil on canvas, 14 1/4 x 22 1/4 in. (36.0 x 56.4 cm),framed.
Condition: Stable craquelure, lined, subtle retouch, minor losses l.c. edge.
Provenance: The estate of Richard Mellon Scaife, Pennsylvania. The proceeds from the sale of this lot will benefit a Pennsylvania art institution.

Band of retouch along the top inch of the canvas where the surface is somewhat granular. Other very minor retouch to sky. Retouch to strengthen the dark tower of the lighthouse. A spot of retouch measuring 3/4 inch diameter just above the outermost rocky promontory. Possible strengthening to the pink cloud in u.l. quadrant. Paint loss along the bottom center edge measures four inches across overall and up to 1/4 inch high at the highest point (on the right side of the loss). Fine, stable craquelure.
