French School, 18th Century

Roman Family Group in an Arcadian Landscape
Unsigned.
Oil on canvas, 22 x 30 1/4 in. (55.3 x 76.5 cm), framed.
Condition: Lined, retouch, craquelure.
Estimate $800-1,200

Old lining and more recent strip-lining. Small area of reinforcement with wax or similar on the reverse. Fine craquelure overall. Retouch throughout consisting mainly of fine dots and dashes through the background with a few larger areas, including spots measuring 1 to 2 inches behind the head of the man and by his feet. Fine retouch to the faces. Please see black light photographs for greater detail.

Framed dimensions are 30 1/4 x 38 1/2 in.
