Odilon Redon (French, 1840-1916)

Quel est le but de tout cela?, from Tentation de Saint-Antoine, 1896, printed by Clot and Blanchard, Paris (Mellerio, 151). Unsigned. Lithograph on chine volant, image size 12 3/8 x 10 in. (31.3 x 25.5 cm), framed.
Condition: Gentle cockling, not examined out of frame.
Estimate $1,000-1,500

Out of the frame the sheet measures 17 1/4 x 13 7/8 inches with a deckled right edge. The margins are cockled but the image is not. The image is slightly light-struck. There are old hinges to the upper corners verso and creasing to the upper right corner of the margin. There is a pin hole or similar to the right margin. The works is stamped "MADE IN FRANCE" on verso. The frame measures 20 5/8 x 17 1/4 inches.
