Two Vintage Large Format Images of Boston, early to mid-20th century, a photograph depicting the Colonial Building on Boylston Street (home of the Colonial theater), and a photogravure showing the John Hancock Mutual Life Insurance Company, overall 34 x 26 and 36 x 33 1/2 in., respectively, each in an oak frame.
Note: Jared Bowen writes, "The Emerson Colonial Theatre is one of our nation's most historic and re-opened earlier this year in grand style after conservators and restorers excavated the building's lavish historical details. I adore this photograph from the theater's early days when it was intended to transport audiences to the great theatrical palaces of Europe."
