Indonesian Ritual Cloth, Tampan Darat, Lampung, Sumatra, late 19th century, cotton supplementary weft technique, the ground continuously woven of very fine and tightly woven local cotton, the supplementary weft threads of home-dyed cotton interwoven to provide the design element, repeated bird and human motifs both small and large, mounted, 38 1/2 x 35 1/2 in.
