Northwest Coast Bakwas "Cockle-Hunter" Mask, Kwakwaka'wakw (Kwakiutl) or Bella Bella, early fourth quarter 19th century, wood and paint, with heavy protruding forehead, hooked beak-like nose, deep-set eyes, and open drawn-back red lips, appears to have been repainted numerous times, ht. 10 1/4, wd. 7 3/4 in.
Provenance: Private collection, Stowe, Vermont.
