Teke Power Figure, standing on crescent-shaped feet, the bent legs tapering into a cylindrical torso with thin arms held at the abdomen, the thick neck supporting the head with large beard, open mouth, wide nose and finely engraved cheeks, buttons in the eyes and surmounted by a circular coiffure with a crest, overall brown patina, ht. 15 in.
Provenance: The Charles and Blanche Derby collection, Northampton, Massachusetts; Mead Museum of Art, Amherst College; Barry Maurer collection; Marc Leo Felix, Brussels, Belgium; private French collection; brought back to Europe by Swedish missionaries prior to 1930.
