Description:

Audubon, John James (1785-1851) Virginian Partridge, Plate 76. [from] Birds of America. London: R. Havell, 1826-1838. Double elephant folio format hand-colored engraving with aquatint and etching, colors faded, with losses to greens and yellows, mounted on board, first two letters in the word "Plate" have been scraped away by the framer to accommodate the proportions of an old mat, some spotting, mat burn, 38 x 25 3/4 in.
