Paint-decorated and Carved Dower Chest over Two Drawers, Soap Hollow, Pennsylvania, c. 1849, the molded lift top opens to a well, above two drawers centering a three-heart cutout and surrounded by applied reeding, all on bracket base, painted red overall with gilt stenciled "S.C./1849" on front surrounded by stars, the drawers red with stars at the corners, the molded edge of the top, reeded molding, and base all painted black, colorless glass drawer pulls, old surface, ht. 29 1/2, wd. 50 1/4, dp. 23 1/4 in.
