Needlework Memorial for Harriet Davenport, Harriet Piere at Miss Tolman's School, Boston, Massachusetts, c. 1813, depicting a woman dressed in mourning clothes facing a monument with an urn above inscribed "In Memory of/Miss Harriet Davenport who departed/this life Decr 12th 1813 AE 24," a second similar monument to the left reads "In Memory of/Miss Mary Glover Pierce, who/departed this life Septr. 1st 1825/AE 13.," with embroidered trees in the background and flowered lawn in the foreground, eglomise mat with gilt lettering "Wrought by Miss Harriet Piere AE 12 at Miss Tolman's school," in a molded gilt and gold-painted frame, (sight) ht. 12 3/8, wd. 13 1/4 in.

Note: Genealogical sources document Harriet Davenport born in Dorchester, Massachusetts, November 16, 1789, and died in Dorchester, December 15, 1813.

Minor fading to silk, paint flaking from eglomise mat, frame is gold painted and has gesso losses.
