Note: James Whitcher of Hooksett is documented as having received an award for his work producing the best wooden pails in New Hampshire in Transactions of the New Hampshire State Agricultural Society for the Years 1850, 1851 and 1852 (Concord; Butterfield and Hill, 1853),p. 87.
