Carved Mahogany Reverse Serpentine Slant-lid Desk, possibly Ipswich, Massachusetts, c. 1760-80, the molded top opens to a carved interior with central paneled prospect door flanked by half-baluster facades, shell-carved drawers, compartments, and valance drawers, old baise writing surface, on a cockbeaded case of four graduated drawers, on boldly carved claw-and-ball feet and central shell-carved drop pendant, original brass, old surface, ht. 45 1/2, wd. 42, dp. 23 1/2 in.
Provenance: Purchased directly from the original owner's family, c. 2000.
