Two 19th Century French Watercolors:
Jean-Louis David (French, 1792-1868),Napoleon on Horseback with his Troops, signed and dated "L. David./1836" l.r., inscribed "1320" in pencil on the reverse, 6 7/16 x 5 3/16 in. (16.3 x 13.2 cm); and Joseph Louis Hippolyte Bellange (French, 1800-1866),Soldier Peering Out from a Trench, signed and dated "hte Bellange 1855" l.r., 6 7/8 x 4 7/8 in.; both housed in matching Newcomb-Macklin Company frames.
Condition: David with water damage or similar and surface losses to l.l. corner, toning, craquelure, rippling, hinge remnants and glue stains to the edges of the reverse; Bellange with toning, tape hinges in the corners of the reverse, illegible inscription (probably framer's notes) on the reverse.
