British Pattern 1777 Short Land Service Musket Marked to the 60th Regiment of Foot, c. 1777, .78 caliber, lock engraved behind the cock "TOWER" and with a crown over "GR" and remnants of crown broad arrow government ownership mark below the pan, walnut stock with remnants of storekeeper's mark on the left side of the butt and "DW" carved on the left side of the butt, brass fittings, wrist plate marked "60/2," breech has proof marks, "SG," and engraved "60 REGT" on the top of the barrel, ramrod with small stamped "P" and engraved "352," barrel lg. 42, overall lg. 58 in.

Note: This gun was purportedly found by Civil War veteran Joseph D. Myers while hunting near Ft. Ticonderoga. It was placed on loan to the Fort in 1936 and sold to Bill Ahearn in 1994 by the grandson of Mr. Myers soon after it was returned to the lender.

Stock has some dings, dents, and the forestock is replaced. The lock, barrel and other parts are in good condition with a little wear from use. The lock functions but does not stay on full cock.
