Embossed Leather Boston Wallet Identified to Ezra Tilden, c. 1743, block-stamped on both sides "Boston," one inside pocket is tooled with foliate designs and "made in Deadham Town/Ezra 1743/Ezra Tilden March 8," the other "made in Dedham/Tilden/Stoughton 1743," both edges sewn with brass wire with reinforcing rings at stress points, ht. 3 3/4, wd. 6 1/2 in.
Note: Ezra Tilden was born in Scituate, Massachusetts, in 1724. His nephew, Ezra Tilden, from Stoughton, authored a journal during the American Revolution that is studied by historians today.
