Winchester Model 1876 Rifle, c. 1884, serial number 50870, .40-60 caliber, walnut stock with a checkered wrist and forend, engraved receiver with foliate designs, a dog and a deer, octagonal barrel marked on the top "WINCHESTER'S-REPEATING ARMS . NEW HAVEN. CT./KING'S-IMPROVEMENT-PATENTED-MARCH 29, 1866, OCTOBER 16, 1860," the right side of the barrel marked for the engraver and refinisher "BOL LTD. EDGEFIELD, SC," barrel lg. 28, overall lg. 48 1/2 in.
