Cast Iron "Uncle Sam" Mechanical Bank, Shepard Hardware Company, Buffalo, New York, late 19th century, figure wearing blue-painted jacket, red and white striped pants, standing on a deck next to a bag marked "US," base has an eagle with "E PLURIBUS UNUM" ribbon on front, the bottom marked "PAT. JUNE 8, 1886," ht. 11 3/8 in.
