Portrait of the Clipper Ship Aldana Rokes
Unsigned, vessel identified on a pennant and indistinctly on the bow.
Pastel on marble dust paper, 21 1/2 x 27 1/2 in. (sight),in a gilt frame.
Condition: Abrasions and minor loss.
Provenance: Acquired from Judy Milne, November 19, 1977.
Note: Research provided by the consignor indicates that the Aldana Rokes was built in Thomaston, Maine, in 1869.
Provenance: The Arthur & Sybil Kern Collection of American Folk Art.

There is an area of water staining above and extending into the three masts of the ship, and a water stain along the right edge.
