H. Duren 10-inch Ebony Octant, New York, 19th century, with brass index arm, bone scale and vernier read-out, pinnula, horizon mirror and sunshades, central plaque reading "J I M Ray Minories/London/H. Duren/New York," housed in a fitted mahogany case with R. Sherman & Co. label.
