William E. Stieren Brass Sighting Instrument, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, c. 1875, pierced brass instrument with engraved protractor scale divided 90-0-90, arms engraved "Pat'd by Harvey Linton March 3d 1874" and "Wm. E. Stieren Pittsburgh, PA," vernier arm with scale divided 60-0-60 with a central bubble level, turned wood handle that can be accommodated in a vertical or horizontal screw slot, and with sighting scope running the length of instrument, wd. 6 1/4 in.
