Two Kesa and a Sash, Japan, 19th/20th century, silk and metallic thread brocade, one woven with phoenixes and a crane on a cream-colored ground, the other with rows of floral roundels on a gold ground, with matching sash, sizes to 80 x 44 in.
gold kesa unstable, backing very brittle, losses and fraying to edges, multiple tears, extensive wear and staining to cream kesa.
