Buddhist Priest's Robe, Jiasha, China, 19th century, embroidered with lung dragon roundels and panels, a pair of Buddhist lions and a lotus in couched gold thread at the collar, red felt rectangles interspersed with auspicious Buddhist flora and fauna, with lotus flowers and dragon-headed fish, wd. 88 in.

Provenance: Property of the photographer Orrin Freeman, who owned a dry goods and Shanghai imports store in Yokohama, by descent to present owner.
