Needlework Sampler "Harriot Putney," Boscawen, New Hampshire, 1809, stitched in silk or worsted wool on a linen background with eight lines of alphabet and numbers and four lines of verse, signed "Harriot Putney's Sampler Wrought in the/eleventh year of her age. August 5th A.D. 1809," all within a strawberry vine border, ht. 21, wd. 16 in.

Provenance: Esther Durgin Gill, daughter of Harriot Putney; Mrs. F.C. Johnson, the last owner of the Morrison Durgin homestead in Boscawen, New Hampshire.
