Description:

Needlework Sampler "Elizabeth Kinison," c. 1833, worked in silk threads on a linen ground, outer sawtooth border and inner border of flowering vine tied with bows, and lower border of "landscape" with trees, flowers and a basket of flowers, all surrounding alphanumeric rows, maker's name and age, and a verse, 20 1/4 x 17 in.

Provenance: According to a note written on the reverse, Elizabeth Kinison was the great granddaughter of a woman named Barbara McNeish, and executed this sampler in 1833.
