Needlework Sampler "Polly Mansfield," probably Lynn, Massachusetts, 1801, stitched in silk or worsted wool on a green linen background, six lines of alphabet and numbers, eight lines of verse, signed "POLLY MANSFIELD her work/September 23d 1801 Aged 11 years," all within a strawberry vine border, ht. 15 3/4, wd. 15 in.
Note: Genealogical research documents a Polly Mansfield (1790-1840) of Lynn, Massachusetts.
