Description:

Pair of Wedgwood & Bentley Black Basalt "Sugar Dish" Vases and Covers, England, c. 1775, squat forms with band of laurel and berries to shoulder, drapery swags to side, impressed wafer marks, ht. 7 3/4 in.

Literature: Illustrated in WEDGWOOD, Volume II, by R. Reilly, plate 536, p. 400.
Estimate $1,200-1,800

Each with nicks along edges of square plinth. One with repair through neck; the other with socle attached to bottom of vase and associated 3/8" chip. One cover a wood replacement, the other possibly associated.
