Triangular copper form with applied facial features in the Modernist style, with maker's WHW stamp and Made in Austria, ht. 14 1/8, wd. 6 1/2 in.
Note: Karl Hagenauer studied at the School of Applied Arts in Vienna with Josef Hoffmann. Hoffmann recognized his great talent: "Karl Hagenauer has a very good understanding of form, his craftsmanship is very skilled;" he is "very gifted at drawing" and "very talented at design, and perfectly prepared technically."
