Walker Evans (American, 1903-1975)

Houses, Chicago, Made for the Fortune Magazine Article "Chicago: A Camera Exploration" (Published February 1947), 1946-47. Stamped "Walker Evans" on the recto l.r., signed and dated "Walker Evans…" in pencil on the verso l.r., "WALKER EVANS," artist's New York studio, and Lunn Gallery stamps on the verso. Gelatin silver print, image size 6 1/2 x 8 3/8 in. (16.4 x 21.2 cm), unmatted, unframed.
Condition: Subtle chemical discoloration at center and u.r., paper hinge remnants on the verso at upper corners.

Provenance: Photography dealer Harry Lunn Jr., Washington, DC, to a private Massachusetts collection.
