Description:

Four-plate Persian Astrolabe, 19th century, 6-in. dia. instrument with engraved mater with limb marked in degrees, the tympanum with circles of altitude and azimuth, rotating plates and alidade with pinnula sights, reverse engraved with calendar around the perimeter and scales for angle measurement suspended by a brass ring, and a decorated throne.
