Pair of Thomas Harris & Son 12-inch Floor Standing Globes, London, first quarter 19th century, made up of twelve hand-colored gores laid down on plaster spheres with terrestrial cartouche reading "Thos. Harris & Son/New Terrestrial Globe/Composed from the latest Discoveries and astronomical Observations/Made and Sold at their Optical Manufactory/52 Great Russell Street, Bloomsbury, London," both with engraved brass hour rings, and meridian rings, paper horizon plates laid down on wood with Zodiacal calendar by names and signs, mounted to a delicately carved acanthus leaf and turned central column, terminating in carved paw feet with suspended central paper compass dials, ht. 34 in.

base carving is exceptional with nice color and condition, damage to both poles on the terrestrial globe, lacking brass guid on the celestial globe, damage/splits and repairs around the equater also on the terrestrial, horizon band has losses and repairs split and crack on terrestrial, celestial has crack/split equinoctial line, and one of the compass supports is broken.
