Benjamin Pike & Son Vernier Compass and Two 18th Century New Jersey Land Deeds, New York, c. 1850, 6-in. dia. engraved silvered dial signed "Benjamin Pike & Son/New York," cardinal, and intercardinal points in block lettering, and a fleur-de-lis at north, needle ring engraved 0-90 in four quadrants, blued-steel hand, brass lifter, dual spirit levels, vanes, and original mahogany dovetailed carrying case; the two deeds penned on vellum, one reading in part "Between John Singer of the Township of Knowlton in the County of Sussex, and the state of New Jersey, 1793," the other "Between Philip Shaver (?) of the Township of Knowlton in the County of Sussex, and Western division of the State of New Jersey, 1796."
