18th Century Dutch Reisschaaf Plane, William Evertsen, c. 1785, 30 1/2-in. body with sculpted and carved handle, and tote, finely carved escapement with twin volutes, and dated "1785," stamped on toe "Evertsen," and "WE" a the crown.

Note: According to the records of Dutch writer Gerrit van der Sterre in his book Four Centuries of Dutch Planes and Planemakers, there is only one other plane marked Evertsen which is dated 1801.
