Late 17th Century Boxed Coin Balance or Assayer's Scale, Pierre-Louis Rogon, France, c. 1683, fitted fruitwood case with snipe hinges, with underside reading in script "P Rogon Andre le fran Rue tupin a lion 1683," steel beam with heart-shaped decoration, copper pans, each having the stamp of the crown over "PR," the fitted compartment for nine brass decorated weights with insignia, each space inscribed with the name of the weight, box lg. 7 3/8 in.
