19th Century Bread Knife, Brittany, France, wrought iron curved blade terminating in a spiral, with an incised and decorated turned boxwood handle, blade lg. 13 in.

Note: This blade has the same "spiral of life" forged into its iron as the armor's axe mentioned in Codes & Symbols of European Tools, p. 141.
