Description:

George II Sterling Silver Cake Basket, London, 1744-45, John Hugh Le Sage, maker, the reticulated basket with a bail handle with engraved Order of the Garter insignia, raised on four rocaille scrolled feet each with a figure to the knee, lg. 14 1/2 in., approx. 69.5 troy oz.

Handle is unmarked, with scattered minor nicks, abrasions, and pinprick dents. Basket with abrasions, pinprick dents to interior surface, reticulated frame with scattered elements bent slightly and few breaks to frame (particularly to each end). Wobbles slightly.
