Description:

George I Britannia Standard Silver Cup and Cover, London, 1715-16, Pierre Platel, maker, with later chased flowers and C-scrolls centering an engraved monogram, ht. 6 1/4 in., approx. 14.8 troy oz.
Estimate $1,500-2,500

Later chasing, monogram re-engraved over older engraving (silver surface still strong). Interior rim of lid dented slightly (rocks slightly, sits up on cup slightly), finial slightly off-kilter (shallow dent to one side of base). Scattered minor surface wear, nicks to edge of rim.
