Oil on canvas, 80 x 54 in. (203.2 x 137.2 cm),in a period frame.
Condition: Lined, minor surface grime.
Exhibitions: Sixteenth Annual Exhibition of the Society of Western Artists at The City Art Museum St. Louis, 1912, entry 139.
Provenance: Property of the Saint Louis Art Museum, sold to benefit the acquisition fund.

The canvas is lined and stretched onto a modern conservation stretcher. Minor dots of retouch to the sky in the center and also in the foreground water and bank on the left side, with a bit more possible retouch on the foreground tree trunk. However, the pale fluorescence in the tree trunk might only be the reflection of the dark brown pigment.
