Oil on cradled panel, 12 x 8 1/2 in. (30.5 x 21.6 cm),framed.
Condition: Fine craquelure, high gloss varnish.
Provenance: Christie's New York, The House Sale, Wednesday, September 6, 2006, Sale 1755, Lot 153, as Mother and Child.
N.B. The stamp at the lower left is abraded, but suggests "VENTE DIAZ" (Lugt, 672),1877, the sale of the artist's estate including 213 paintings by the artist's hand, as well as other items from his collection. This work may correspond to No. 31, described as "Venus et l'Amour, 29 x 20 cm."

With Christie's auction house labels on the reverse and on the back of the frame. Also with a Canadian customs stamp dated February 28, 1968, on the frame backing paper, and an anonymous inscription in ink providing the artist's name and dates.
Framed dimensions are 23 x 19 1/2 in.
