Signed or inscribed "Maratti" in ink l.r., inscribed "Carlo Maratti/..." in pencil on the supporting sheet l.c.
Red chalk with faint pencil grid (squared for transfer) on bluish paper, squared for transfer, 10 5/8 x 11 in. (27.0 x 28.0 cm),matted, unframed.
Condition: Laid down on support sheet, drawing is shaped to suggest it was designed for over a door or window, toning, staining, creasing.

Drawing mounted to supporting paper which is affixed to the back mat with linen tape across the corners. The lower right corner has come loose, so that the back of the support can be partially viewed, and which is toned and creased, but there does not appear to any inscription or notation on the back. The drawing has two holes in the upper right quadrant, one measuring 1 x 1 inch with the lost lines of the drawing lightly sketched in, and one measuring 1/2 x 1/4 inch. Glue stains lower center. Overall toning, soiling, and scattered foxing.
