The Earth, seen from the spacecraft at mid-distance of the Moon, Apollo 11, July 1969. Numbered 'NASA AS11-36-5355' (NASA MSC) in red on the recto u.l. margin. Vintage chromogenic print on fiber-based Kodak paper with 'A Kodak Paper' watermark on the verso, image size 7 1/8 x 9 1/2 in. (18.0 x 24.0 cm),unmatted.
Condition: Subtle residue or similar u.r. corner.

N.B. Apollo 11 was already about 98,000 nautical miles from Earth when this picture was made. 'It suddenly struck me that that tiny pea, pretty and blue, was the Earth,' said Neil Armstrong. 'I put up my thumb and shut one eye, and my thumb blotted out the planet Earth. I didn't feel like a giant. I felt very, very small.'
