Description:

Mahogany Chest-on-chest, probably southern New Hampshire, late 18th century, projecting cornice, thumb-molded drawers, and bandy legs, ht. 78 1/2, lower case wd. 38, lower case dp. 18 1/2 in.

Provenance: Descended in the Joseph Cilley family. Joseph Cilley (1734-1799) served as Lieutenant Colonel then, later, Colonel of the 1st New Hampshire Regiment commanding the regiment in numerous campaigns in northern New York and New Jersey. After the war he commanded New Hampshire militia troops and was elected to the New Hampshire State Senate.
