Dollond 4-inch Brass Universal Equinoctial Ring Dial, London, 18th century, two concentric brass rings folding flat when not in use, a meridian ring with "N/S" flanking the zero line on the latitude scale and calibrated 0-90, the reverse calibrated 0-90, and engraved "Dollond London," the equinoctial ring is engraved with a roman numeral hours, the central bridging bar with sliding peephole engraved with the months on one side, declination scale and zodiac signs on the other.
