Midshipman's Dirk, c. early 19th century, ivory grip with brass escutcheon marked "PRESENTED TO/CAPT/Wm Cuthbert/"Hero" 1802/BY OWNERS," counter-guard with eagle heads, fire blue and gold blade etched with a panoply of arms and foliate designs, gold-plated brass scabbard engraved with foliate designs, blade lg. 6, overall lg. 9 3/8 in.

Blade has most of the gilt and fire blue intact, some spotting on the blade, in overall good condition.
