Reno, Inventor of the Escalator, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, 1914, the obverse with "AWARDED BY THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA" surrounding the arms of the City of Philadelphia, the reverse with "THE JOHN SCOTT MEDAL TO THE MOST DESERVING" surrounding a wreath with engraved inscription "To/JESSE W. RENO/ for his/ INCLINED ELEVATOR/OR ESCALATOR/ on the recommendation of/THE FRANKLIN INSTITUTE/1914," housed in a velvet-lined leather case, medal dia. 4 in.
