Silhouette of Dr. Holyoke of Salem Cut by Master Hankes, America, early 19th century, full-length figure, the reverse stamped "Gallery of Cuttings/Cut by/MASTER HANKES," inscribed at in pencil "Dr. Holyoke of Salem," unframed, ht. 10 1/4, wd. 7 3/4 in.

Note: Dr. Edward Augustus Holyoke (1728-1829) was the son of Reverend Edward Holyoke, President of Harvard. Dr. Holyoke was a physician in Salem, Massachusetts for 73 years. He was one of the founders of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, the founder and first president of the Massachusetts Medical Society.
