Monhegan-Burnt Head in Foreground, White Head Beyond. Signed "S.P. Rolt Triscott" l.l., numbered and titled "No. 6..." on the back of the frame, with a partial label from W.J. N.B. Samuel Triscott was born in England and came to the United States in 1871, settling in Worcester, Massachusetts, where he worked as a civil engineer and surveyor. Triscott was active in the art world and showed regularly at the Boston Art Club, the American Watercolor Society in New York, The Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, and the Gallery of J. Eastman Chase. In 1885, he was one of the founding members of the Boston Society of Water Color Painters. In the early 1890s he began visiting Monhegan Island and eventually moved there full time.
Although the frame was not opened during cataloging, the condition of the watercolor appears good.
