Charter of the Marine Society of the Town of Newport, in the State of Rhode Island. Newport: at the Office of the Newport Mercury for the Society, 1806. Octavo, illustrated with the engraved frontispiece by D. Fairman of Providence, bound in full contemporary speckled leather, with a large contemporary gilt-lettered label on the front board of Marine Society member William Engs (member since 1775); hole in secondary title with the loss of the word "of"; a smudge or two to text leaves, front board detached, 8 1/4 x 5 in.
[Together with] Charter of the Fellowship Club [...] Incorporated by the Name of the Marine Society, Newport: by Wm. & J.H. Barber, for the Society, 1819, octavo, illustrated with Fairman's frontispiece, ex libris Captain Borden Wood, who joined the society in 1828 (signed receipts inserted); bound in full contemporary mottled sheep, rubbed, with slight loss at top of front joint and headcap area, trimmed rather carelessly when new, 7 3/4 x 4 3/4 in.
