Large Architectural Element, Japan, Meiji period (late 19th century),hardwood, paint, gilding, carved frame for an arched opening, probably a shrine, on either sides pine trees rise to meet at the top of the arch, trees are populated by cranes, peacocks, other birds, and monkeys, approx. ht. 98, lg. 142, dp. 2 1/4 in.
